About hunters, gatherers and flying houses

0

Last Friday was the day: Me, that is my dad, his girlfriend Brigitte and her daughter Christina visited the Caveman in the Oldenburger Kulturetage. For the ones who never heard about the one-man-show “Defending the Caveman”: It’s about the tiresome topic of differences betwen male and female. But it’s presented in a very non-serious, humorous way. Some of you may say “Oh no, we’re tired of stuff like Mario Barth (he’s a German commedian whom’s only topic seems to be the above one)”, but I was told that Defending the Caveman is a little more sophisticated than Mario Barth. But as I’ve never seen his show (except a few little clips) I won’t dare to judge.

As I like to talk a lot, the main message about the typical male (hunter) does not fit me: Men don’t have much to tell their partners, as they’re happy if they don’t need to talk too much with their other male friends. A woman (gatherer) however expresses her affection by telling her female friends / partners everything in detail. Thus she feels unbeloved, if her partner isn’t very talkative. The fact that women have the special ability to “abrogate logic”, wasn’t really new to me. But granted, the fact that men are not able to multitask shows, when they quiet the radio as soon as they do no longer know where they’re driving. I have to confirm that. For those who want to get an idea of the show, feel free to take a look at this clip (German with English subtitles):

(Remark: The show is performed by different actors in different cities, but the show in Oldenburg was still very good!)

After we couldn’t go to the cinema on Saturday, as the cinema hall had a technical defect, and after we went to the North Sea on Sunday where i froze my nose at a felt wind force of 6 (today I have a cold because of it), we went to the cinema in the evening to see Disney’s “Up”. It’s interesting, how Disney keeps coming up with new ideas. From giant birds of paradise that love chocolate via dogs that have a collar that makes them speak through to houses that fly with the help of balloons, thrown by an old man and a boy walking on the ground, everything was part of that movie. The ones who did not get this last sentence, may now have a clue what this movie is like. ;D Overall it was a beautiful movie that came up with some good laughs. Simply Disney. And the little girl that sat beneath me, shouting “That’s so meeeeeeean!” really softened my heart.

With this I wish you a good evening and am curious, if the blogpost (the German version) is going to be posted on Facebook automatically.

First post, last try?

Yes, I’m brave enough to finally start a new blog! My earlier tries didn’t make it for a very long time. But this time it could really work out, because: I don’t try to build the perfect layout for ages (Yes, there’s still a little perfectionist inside of me), but just take the layout as it is and start posting. So I already got over the barrier that made my other tries fail. And since I’m able to manage all this via Facebook, chances are good that I may write new posts regularly…

I don’t have much time, because I wanna clean up my room a little before I go to bed, as I am awaiting visitors on Thursday who will stay during the weekend. I’m exited about that, it’s gonna be a great weekend. We’re going to see Defending the Caveman on the stage. Of course I will give you a report. (;

Also last weekend has already been great. Youth weekend in Gemünden. Once again I got to know lots of great people, and I hope that I’m able to stay in contact with some of them. A reliable source told me that there’s a contact list going to be sent around this weekend. It’s quite a lot of work to continuously make yourself aware of the fact that God has lots of altars in our everyday lives. I didn’t make it at the first try. But I don’t feel like getting more and more away from it as the time passes after this weekend. So I won’t give up. Like Relient K sing: “With every passing second comes a second chance.” (:

By the way, this is what you may expect from this blog in the future: Everything that moves my life. They way I walk with God, the music that touches me, things I like and would like to show you… Very much everything I expecience and expect to be interesting enough to share it with you. With this I say good bye and until the next time.
