The Switzerland is a no-go!
0The title says it all: I won’t go to the Switzerland. After waiting for a feedback for weeks, whether the customer wants me to go to the Switzerland or not, they finally said: We actually don’t need another consultant over her. But okay, at least now my boss knows for sure that I’m still available for other projects. There are other projects to come, but as I don’t wanna tell you something that I have to revise later, I don’t say anything at all, until things get more tangible.
That also means for me that I won’t come to the Football Weekend in Thayngen (which rather should be called Soccer Weekend, actually ;)). The journey from Oldenburg to the Switzerland and back for only one weekend would be a little too much for me. Instead I’ll go to Kai-Uwe T.’s birthday on Friday evening. The topic is “Bad taste” and I’ve already got an idea what clothes I’ll be wearing that night. It’s gonna be fun and I hope to be able to show you a few pictures later. I’ll stay in Frankfurt for the rest of the weekend and am going to visit Julia, which I’m really looking forward to. :D We didn’t fix anything yet, but actually we have to go to the movies again – it kinda became a tradition to go to the movies every time we meet.
If everything goes well, I will visit Diana R. the following weekend. Whether in Bopfingen, where she studies, or at home, isn’t confirmed yet. But I’m flexible. I’m looking forward to that, as well, and am sure that we’re going to have lots of fun. :D

I finally, after a long time of back and forth, decided for a digital camera. But it’s neither the Canon SX200 IS, nor the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7. Lately the successors for both cameras have been released. Both of them removed some of the biggest disadvantages that I didn’t like about their predecessors. But that didn’t make it much easier for me: Now I wasn’t able to decide between the two successors. Finally I watched some video examples on YouTube and realized, that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 is a lot better for concert recordings (regarding image and sound quality) than the Canon SX210 IS. That’s why I decided to buy the Lumix camera, despite the lesser number of megapixels and the missing manual focus. As in Germany she costs as much € as she costs $ in the USA (where she is called ZS7 instead of TZ10), I ordered it on Amazon.com to ship it to Christina B., who is studying in the USA for one semester at the moment. It already arrived there and I can’t wait to unpack it on the 14th of May, when I’ll arrive in Boston. :D
Which digicam will it be?
0In order to be able to shoot great picture, especially during my USA journey, I still need a good digital camera. Three features particularly important to me: A good image quality, a minimum distance (macro) as low as possible and a large optical zoom. Also, the camera should be a compact camera. Now two candidates made it to the finals and now the fat’s in the fire: I can’t decide!
Canon PowerShot SX200 IS or Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7/ZS3?

Please try to help me a little. Here are a few articles:
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 / ZS3 verdict
- Canon PowerShot SX200 IS verdict
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 Review, Wide Angle Compact
- Canon Powershot SX200 IS Review, Wide Angle Compact
- Unboxed: Canon Powershot SX200 IS and Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7
Summary of the facts:
- At large the cameras are pretty similar. The difference of 2 megapixels is almost not noticable.
- Pictures of the Canon camera are a little smoother, as the noise-reduction filter is very (too) strong.
- The Panasonic camera is capable of optical zooming during HD video recordings, unlike the Canon camera.
- But on the other hand the Canon camera has a 100% manual mode. Sorrily the Panasonic camera is missing this.
- The Panasonic camera has a little wider camera angle than the Canon camera.
For my particular interests this means about 50:50. Can you find more arguments for or against one of the cameras in the articles and/or do you maybe have made your own experiences with on of them?
I’m looking forward to some comments and decision guidance. Probably I will take a closer look at both cameras in the store, as well. Thank you! :)
